'Big Al', otherwise known as Al Gwyer is to the team what the hull is to the boat! We are priviledged to have a man with his experience and passion on board to support us and take control of all the team's boat safety, logisitics and team training - of the educational kind, as opposed to the physical, where if truth be known he would be out of his depth.
Al is in charge of getting the boat up to speed and in race condition as well as getting it over to Geraldton in one piece. In addition he will be organising all the coursework required for the team to take part in the challenge. With a wealth of ocean experience he will bring invaluable support, intelligence and insight to the team, most notably from his involvement in past America's Cup campaigns, as well as being a very able seaman in his own right.
A larger than life character he has plenty of fire in the belly (as well as various other things by the looks of things) and has a reputation for getting things done (his way or no way!), so the team had best be on their toes!
