Steve, otherwise known as 'Swampy', is yet another POM who has given up the motherland in search of a better life in New Zealand. Swamps is a pivotal member of the fundraising team and his unique, not to mention endearing accent coupled with his never ending energy and enthusiasm for life endears him to everyone and anyone he comes in to contact with...and magically seems to open their wallets!
Born in Cirencester Swamps studied Rural Resource Management at Seale-Hayne Agricultural College. Like all good Cirencester folk he took to this like a duck to water and quickly established himself as one of the country's leading landscape gardeners...a reputaion his is now trying to establish in NZ with Silver Fern Landscapes.
Swamps first taste of NZ life came in 1999 when he completed a one year placement as part of his study. He then ventured back on more social terms in 2005 with the infamous Barmy Army and co as part of the Lions Tour.
2006 was a turning point for Swamps - it marked the first time he met Tom and Bex and was the year when his love for NZ life was confirmed...a love which has been strong ever since, so strong that he was invited as an honorary 'Kiwi' to perform the Haka at Tom & Bex's wedding - a career high for the man from Gloucester but the same cannot be said for all the genuine Kiwis who had to watch him butcher their national source of pride.
When he's not out building lavish garden designs Swamps can probably be found either watching replays of Liverpool's glory days (in black & white opbviously) or strutting his MC Hammer stuff on any one of the many Auckland dancefloors - where he continues to put all men to shame.
Swamps has just applied for his permanent residency and his main interests (aside from Liverool FC and dancing) include Mill Duckie and the SKYCITY cheer team...and any other cheer team for that matter.
