The Indian Ocean

Facts you didn’t know about the Indian Ocean

•    The 3rd largest ocean in the world
•    The deepest point is 25,344ft (7,725 metres) with an average depth of 12,740ft (3,872 metres).
•    There are 17 types of indigenous shark – sorry but due to obvious reasons we refuse to tell you how many of these are man eaters! Reality is they all love nothing more than a hearty meal of plankton and 4 man rowing boats are their friends…of course.

Quote:
“The exhilaration of surfing 30 ft waves one day, rowing across a millpond the next, fighting against the elements and coming out on top was just fantastic.” (Tim Welford, Team Ryvita – Atlantic Rowing Race 1997)
